Granada museum


An interactive museum in Granada of 70.000 m2 where you can see a varied selection of culture and science. This is one of Europe's largest museums in this sector. The museum was opened in May of 1995 and is about 15 minutes walking distance from the historical center of Granada. You can also reach it easily from the motorway or by public transport.

The museum comprises of various parts such as:

Building "Pédulo de Foucault:

  • Planetarium, take a 360° trip through space. Thanks to the "Uniview" program that was developed by NASA and the Historical museum of New York, space can be viewed live from just about anywhere.
  • Eureka room, dedicated to mechanics and physics, you can control a gyroscope, control the principal of Aquímedes, test your physical stamina by cycling, etc.
  • Perception room: dedicated to various experiments with light and sound such as "mixing 2 faces", "the fake wall", "the never-ending tunnel", "flying thanks to symmetry", "stopping your shadow", etc.
  • Biosphere room: Life on our planet, a demonstration that earth is the result of a long evolution. With modules such as "Floating in space", "the ground moves", "earth is unique", "life's Big Bang", "Bio diversity", "waters route", etc.
  • Exploring: a room especially for kids (3-7 years of age) where they can get to know science playing. With subjects such as "leave your finger prints behind", playing with objects such as magnets, robots, scales, interactive games, etc.
  • Tempory exposition room
  • Astronomic Observatory: Rever in advance activities such as "Astronomic nights", view the most amazing stars through a telescope.

The Macroscopic:

  • Take a trip through the human body, health and living. Thanks to innovative techniques everything in relationship to the human body is shown.: medical biology, anatomy, transplantations, new medicine, etc.
  • Techno Forum, innovation, art and new technologies
  • Preventive culture, learn about the risks we are exposed to at work, in our homes and on the road
  • Al-Andalus and science, gives you a new and original view on Andalucía's past with an important view to the future
  • Explorers- second room devoted to children Room with temporary expositions
  • Observation tower: More than 50 meters high where you can look over Granada and its surrounding areas. The viewing point is at a height of 37 meters.
  • Tropical butterfly garden: tropical garden where you can observe the life cycle of the butterfly as well as that of other tropical insects.

Outside area:

botanical garden, mental gymnastics, astronomy garden, dynamic sculptures, Marie Curi square.

The Granada science museum is a Project that was realized in cooperation with the Junta de Andalucia, Granada Townhall, Council of the province of Granada, the university of Granada, foundation of the bank of Granada, the Council of scientific research and the foundation of the Caja Rural of Granada.

Opening hours:

Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10.00 to 19.00
Sundays, holidays and the Mondays before holidays from 10.00 to 15.00
Closed on: January 1st, May 1st, December 25th and every Monday (with the exception of holidays and Mondays before holidays)
Planetarium: To be confirmed at the ticket desk, they have about 1 show per hour.

Prices:

General Museum: 6.50€/pp. and Planetarium 2.50 €/pp.
Lowered tariff Museum : 5.50€/pp. and Planetarium 2.00€/pp.
Schools Museum: 5.00€/pp. and Planetarium 2.00€/pp.
Lowered tariff: only for 65 years of age or over, children up to 18 years of age and groups of more than 15 heads.

Route description

Location: Avda. de la Ciencia s/n. 18006, Granada
On foot: about 15 minute walk from the historical center, walk past the river "Rio Genil" towards the "El Palacio de los Congresos".
By car: the ringroad from Jaén, exit 131. From Motril, exit 13.
Tourist bus and bus: bus lines 1 and 5 (directly to the museum), 4, 10, 11 and 21 (Plza. de las Américas), 22 (Jardín de la Reina).
