Skiing in the Sierra Nevada

A very extensive skiing area in Andalusia, the south of Spain, with good snow quality and 103 pistes.

The Sierra Nevada skiing season normal starts towards the end of November and can last up to May, one of the longest ski seasons in Europe. You are assured of sufficient snow during the entire season and if that is not enough, this ski resort has snow cannons to produce extra snow where needed. One of the nice things about skiing in the Sierra Nevada is that 70% of the days during the season it is sunny. Skiing in good weather!!
You can easily reach the pists from the urbanisation Pradollano. In the centre of Pradollan you can take various ski lifts to the pists. The main skilift is a telecabin that takes you to the Borreguiles station, also the best option for those who are going off to ski for the very first time.

There is a total of 103 ski pists with a total length of 95 km approximately, sub divided in pists at various levels (green/blue/red/black) suitable for skiers and snowboarders.

There are also illuminated pists in the Sierra Nevada that stay open during the evenings.

The Sierra Nevada ski resort has low prices in comparison with other ski resorts with similar caracteristics. This ski resort has a maintenance team which assures you that the pists are always in a perfect conditions. There are also an area with restaurants and a cafeteria on the pist where you eat inside or outside in the sun.
Sierra Nevada, El Padrollano, has also kept the smallest guests in mind; there are daily activities and you can also use the babysit service.

Route description

The ski station of Sierra Nevada is located at approximately 32 km from the city of Granada.
U can get there via the A-395, with public transport or by car.

Hotels in Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada offers a large amount of hotels directly on the Ski Resort, such as the Maribel Hotel located on the Maribel pist, or the cheaper 2 star hotel El Ciervo, or the recentely renovated hotel Melia Sol y Nieve which is located in the centre of Padrollana.

Be aware that in the high season you can find miles of traffic jams entering the resort and the hotels can all be fully booked. It is better to book early.

For those of you that would rather make a day drip to the Sierra Nevada, you can stay at our holiday appartements in Torrox. Sierra Nevada is just 135 km from Nerja and Torrox, which is easily done in 2 hours by car. If you don´t have a (rental) car you can also book a private taxi service that organizes special daytrips to the Sierra Nevada.
