Holy week 2012 Nerja

Celebrate Easter in Nerja. Easter, also called Semana Santa – Holy week, in Spain is celebrated with processions and Catholic Holy Masses. On this page you will find more information about the easter celebrations of Nerja.

  •  Palm sunday, 1st of April 2012
    11:30 h. Blessing of the Palms Church Ntra. Sra. de las Angustias,         Pza Ermita.   Procession: Pza Ermita, C/ Angustias, C/ Pintada, C/ Puerta del Mar, Paseo Balcón de de Europa, Iglesia “El Salvador”.                                                        12:00 h. Mass at the Church “El Salvador”, located at Europe`s balcony.

  • Ash wednesday, 4th of April 2012 
    18.00h       Procession: Jesús Cautivo & Holy Virgin Mª Stma. de los    Desamparados. Itenirary: Iglesia El Salvador, C/ Puerta del Mar, C/ Pintada, C/          Angustias, Plaza de la Ermita,C/ Granada, Plaza Cavana Paseo Balcón   de Europa.
  • Maundy thursday (Holy thursday), 5th of April 2012
    18:00 h.  Mass at the Church “El Salvador”.
    21:30 h. Procession: Jesus of Nazareth and the Holy Virgin of Hope
    Itinerary: Church, C /Puerta del Mar, C/ Pintada, Plaza Cantarero, C/ Mendez Nuñez,   C/ Bronce, C/ Angustias, Plaza de la Ermita, C/ Granada, Plaza Cavana, C/ Carmen and  Balcón de Europa.
  • Good friday, 6th of April 2012
    18:00 h.         Mass at the Church ”El Salvador”
    21:30 h.         Procession of the Burial of Christ and the Holy Virgin of Dolores    (Virgin of Sorrows). Same itinerary as Maundy Thursday.
  •  Easter sunday, 8th of April 2012 
    11:00 h.         Mass at the Church “El Salvador”.
    12:00 h.         Procession of Christ Resurrected and Holy Mary. Itinerary: Balcón Europa, C/ Puerta del   Mar, C/Pintada,        C/ Arropiero, C/ Huertos,   C/  Frigiliana,  C/  Carretas,  C/Pintada    C/  Angustias,   Plaza   Ermita,   C/  Granada, C/Carmen., Balcón de Europa .

Nerja is chosen one of Spain´s main holiday destinations!

According to Tripadvisor is Nerja one of Spains main holiday destinations. Just ahead of Nerja are main cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastian and Marbella.

Tripadvisor also indicates that it is getting more and more popular to rent holiday apartments as accommodation instead of hotelrooms. Holiday apartments are getting more popular because staying in an apartment gives you  more travel freedom and are less expensive. You can also save costs in eating out and drinks.

As previously indicated, the main holiday destinations of Spain in holiday rentals are  by this order; Barcelona, Madrid, San Sebastian, Marbella, Nerja, Benidorm, Conil de la Frontera, Calpe, Denia and Corralejo.

For Europe the best rated destinations are:  Paris, Rome, Lisbon, Venice and Dubrovnik.
