The consejalía de juventud del Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Nerja presents its new edition of the Youth Agenda 2013

In the youth agenda find workshops such as:

Salsa Workshop, Funky Workshop, Workshop hairdresser, aesthetics Workshop, Workshop French, English Workshop, Computer Workshop, Workshop tutoring, etc..

In addition to the workshops there is a wide variety of online courses that you can participate.

Summer 2013 Youth Concert, the July 27, 2013 from 22.30 in Nerja’s Burriana Beach
White Party 2013, on August 14, 2013 in the Torrecilla beach.
International Youth Day, on August 12, 2013 in the plaza de los cangrejos.
Youth Gymkhana 2013, this Christmas you can have fun with your friends with this event organized by you. The Gymkhana youth is completing a map go through the streets of Nerja, passing tests and quizzes about the customs and history of our people.

Pilgrimage San Isidro Nerja 2013

May 15, 2013 the pilgrimage of San Isidro will be held in Nerja.

The preparations have begun for the festival of San Isidro, to be held on May 15 at the Cave of Nerja.

People and organizations interested in having a covered wagen pulled by oxes, canteens, bars, ice-cream carts, hamburger stands, etc.. can submit requests at the Nerja Town Hall before May 3, 2013.

The pilgrimage begins with a performance at the festival in the grounds of the Cave of Nerja, at 21:30 am on Tuesday.

On Wednesday May 15 there will be a Holy Mass in honor of San Isidro at eleven o’clock and will feature the choir rociero Nerjeña Peña and the traditional offering of fruit.

The pilgrimage starts from the Balcony of Europe, where the saint standing on a wagon pulled by oxes, is brought to the Cueva de Nerja. People will form a line of ox wagons, horses decorated for the occasion, which involved people dressed in typical costumes.

Get to know your village Torrox!

Are you living in Torrox but still don´t know all its beautiful places to visit? You can now participate in hiking routes organized by the Patronato Municipal de Deportes of Torrox.

During these hiking routes you will see different parts of Torrox village and Torrox Costa.

There is a free bus service available for those who need to travel to the starting point of the route.

The program begins today, and will be the last Monday of each month (if the weather lets it) in the following order:
28 January 2013: Faro Torrox – Pueblo Andaluz.
Start: 16:45 Faro Torrox.

25 February 2013: Algarrobo Pérez – Loma de la Rábita – Tajo de la Zorra – Cruce carril de los Casarones – Algarrobo Pérez.
Start: 17:00 Pabellón Polideportivo Municipal.

25 March 2013: Concesionario Opel – Río Torrox – Camino de Zamora – Convento.
Start: 16:45 Edificio Usos Múltiples Torrox Costa.

Three Wise Men parade in Nerja

The Three Wise Men parade will pass through the streets of Nerja and will be giving away candy to the children. The parade departs at 17:00 from the “verano azul” park, via Calle Jaen, Calle Diputacion, calle Granada, Calle San Miguel, Plaza Cantarero, calle Pintada and ends at the lifelike nativity.

An event specially for children.

Spain celebrates not so much Christmas with Santa Claus and gifts, their tradition is to receive and give presents with the Three Kings celebration, Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

What to do in December in Torrox

This year Torrox has arranged number of activities to do this December.

1) Hiking trails:
9th of December:Route of Fornes.
Location: Granada – Fornes
A bus will pick up participants from the bus stop in El Morche at 8:00 AM. This hiking trail has a length of 10.2km.

16th of December: Hiking trail of the Pinsapar de Grazalema
Location: Cadiz (Grazalema)
A bus will pick up participants from the bus stop in El Morche at 7:00 AM.

2) Feast of the “Migas”
23rd of December 2012, traditional feast of Torrox.
This event is celebrated on the Sunday before Christmas day. This is a lasting tradition and a happy excuse for the municipal of Torrox to receive about forty thousand visitors every year making this fiesta one of the most popular and most visited gastronomical fiestas in the region. From early in the morning, a large group of Migueros are striving to prepare the Migas which will be dealt out with salad in various corners of the municipal after the sounding of the Seashell. The Migas is washed down with wine from barrels selected through a competition held earlier between local producers. The fiesta is completed with music and dance acts for all ages, at the same time numerous street venders sell wine, honey, raisins, figs, mini donuts or the traditional Arropía.

4) 4th of December, concert of “Arpa y Voz” by Alfonso Márquez Zapata y Macarena Zapata García, during the week for seniors at the “Salón de actos del Edificio de Torrox Costa.”

Nerja Fair 10-14 October 2012

Nerja celebrates its October Fair.

Nerja Fair, in honor of Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Archangel . Every year in late September, the patron saint is carried in a procession from the chapel to the church of El Salvador. The main day of the fair, October 10, after the celebration of the holy Mass, Virgen de las Angustias will be taken back to the chapel accompanied by the statue of San Miguel Archangel

The most important activities of Nerja are fair: a flamenco festival, various folk performances, sports and cultural activities, street parties, live music, attractions, the crowning of the Queens of the Fair, etc. Also there will be the election of Miss and Mister Nerja to intervene in beauty contests at provincial and regional levels.

14th of September 2012: Tourist day in Torrox!

This weekend the Tourist day of Torrox will take place. Come and visit our village the 14th of September 2012!

The program for this day is:

10.00h Itinerary Torrox Pueblo ( there is a free bus service from Torrox Costa)
12.00h Carnations will be given away (Torrox Costa – Torrox Pueblo – El Morche)
21.30h Flamenco night will start at the viewpoint in Torrox Costa with a show performed by Lucia and Lidia, followed up by the Tourist day awards at 23.00h and from 23.30 live music by Evaro Cueva (Winner of the Flamenco competition XXIV Torrox)

This weekend: Show of different dances in Frigiliana

Come to Frigiliana tomorrow (21/07/12) and visit the show of different traditional dances.
The show starts at 21:00hrs at Pasacalles in Frigiliana and continues from 21:30 onwards at the tree cultures square.

This very poplar event will show you samples of different traditional dances, mainly Spanish but also traditional dances of Russia, South-America and Africa.

Frigiliana is located at only 10 minutes from Calaceite Torrox Costa, and can easy be reached by car. Frigiliana is a white village located in Andalusia and famous about its historical centre, flowers and views.
