The lack of a harbour infrastructure on the east coast of Malaga has prompted the Andalusian Regional Council to plan a new marina between Nerja and Torrox, set to be located to the west of the mouth of the Frontiles Stream, on the Wilches Beach.

In accordance with the Urban Development Plan for Costa del Sol east– Axarquía approved by Decree 147/2006 18th July. The development will be around 23 Hectares - over 172,000 m2 of on land and 157,000 m2 on a water plate.
The location and design of the new port will have ample land access, with a new roundabout linked to the N-340 guaranteeing a connection with the road system.
There will be a new range of nautical services, with around 500 mooring points for boats between 8 and 25 m long, an average length of 13 m. and more than 27,000 m2 of agua neta. Larger vessels will also have a place in his new marina, with 90 m of the harbour set aside for boats of up to 35 m. There will also be a dry dock of more than18,000 m2, equipped with a ramp and travel-lift.
Some 3,500m2 of land is to be set aside for complementary activities.
